A young adult Amita slowly gave up her playful childhood and turned into a beautiful young lady. Her interests developed as did her decision-making abilities. She liked reading fashion magazines that told women to need to be of a certain size to be appealing. Each new edition talked about a crazy new diet that the celebrity followed. Amita who was affected deeply by the demise of her beloved kaka decided that she must follow a certain diet which would ensure that she remained healthy. What began as cutting out on junk food turned severe in a short amount of time. Even after she achieved a body shape that was often visible in the fashion magazines she loved, Amita refused to give up. The advice of friends and family fell on deaf ears. Her diet got out of hand because of her desire for perfection and high achievement. This took a toll on her mental health. She relentlessly pursued the goal of being thin no matter what it did to her health. She had a very distorted image of her body weight. She starved herself to a point where her body weight dropped to dangerously low levels. This resulted in a lot of problems such as menstrual problems, loss of energy, dehydration and thinning of hair which made her more and more socially isolated. Her adult life was full of self-created problems. Her elder years were met with even more problems and self-loathing which turned to early health problems.
