Arjun was supposed to be very happy for the rise in ranks that trailed his job heroics. However, it wasn’t to be. It was exactly like a can of ugly worms opened on him. Confusion gritted his existence and a colleague noticed his displeasure which he well denied. Deeply, he knew what others did not. He realized how accepting the fulltime job offer could expose his little secret he has managed alone for months. Soon, the cat would be let out of the bag and everyone would know its colour. He thought to himself for days on what could ensue. He finally found the needed mojo and confidence to step forward and express his dirty secret. “Better said than being busted”, he said to himself in a loud soliloquy. Amidst absolute fear, Arjun decided to tell the truth to the manager who advised him to do the same to the HR team.

It is Arjun’s turn to interview the new role. To the least of the HR team’s expectations, the fear on his face is so placard and apparent that they thought some things other than the interview must be on his mind. He greeted the team in a very weary voice when the team lead asked if Arjun was really prepared for the interview. He gave a mild response and the young lady became unimpressed. Now, Arjun has one chance to rethink his decision to spill the beans but he turned that down. The team leader asked him to show up for the interview and document investigation when he considered himself ready for the task, but he rather saw that as an opportunity to vomit his filth.

Arjun told the dirty story about how he got the job, and the entire HR team was confused. Some of them felt very stupid to have been deceived in the first place, but they had a consolation that Arjun had been a good employee since he joined the company. Since he took the absolute risk to confront the team with his stories, they all thought it real and debated a way forward on his issue. He was asked to excuse the team and get back to his office until a recommendation is passed on to him. They were all wary of bad precedence. After all, has been said and done, the team agreed he would not be hired on a full-time role as expected. They agreed to let him continue being an intern, and if there were a need, they would make him work on special projects with necessary remuneration. Arjun was grateful to the team and manager for the unmerited favour. He promised never to involve himself in such tricks again.
